5. BEYOND MUI NE: THE ROAD TO LIEN HUONG: 2mins 55secs
The popular, resort-studded beach of Mui Ne, on Vietnam’s south-central coast, is lovely, but it’s firmly on the beaten track. ‘The Road to Lien Huong’ is a road trip to the deserted beaches north of Mui Ne; for those who want to leave to crowds behind. I chose the soundtrack to this video – ‘Winter Solstice’ by Cold Specks – because it made me think of escape and solitude. Read the accompanying article to this video here.

4. SAIGON TO HANOI BY MOTORBIKE: PART 1: THE COAST: 2mins 24secs
Driving the length of the country – Saigon to Hanoi – by motorbike is one of the most exciting things you can do in Vietnam. I took a month-long road trip with my close friend, Sam, to do just that. The south of this journey is all about the beaches; the north is all about the mountains. This video is part 1 of our adventure: the coast. Using Jay Z’s ‘Hard Knock Life’ for the soundtrack is, of course, ironic. Watch it right to the end to see the ‘hidden clip’. Read the accompanying article to this video here.

3. HOMESTAYS IN PU LUONG NATURE RESERVE: 2mins 27secs
The homestays in Bản Hiêu, a village on a mountainside in the stunning landscape of Pù Luông Nature Reserve, are some of the most atmospheric and romantic you could hope to find. I chose ‘Posters’ by Youth Lagoon for the soundtrack to this video because it reminded me of the majesty and scale of the landscape in this enchanting corner of northern Vietnam. 2. CON DAO ISLANDS: 3mins 44secs
Remote, rugged and relatively untouched, the Con Dao Islands are slowly becoming famous. Once a brutal penal colony, set up by the French colonial administration, today this archipelago is known for its dramatic beaches, clear waters and charming colonial seafront town. I chose ‘Girls’ by Death in Vegas as the soundtrack for this video because, well, because I like it. Read the accompanying article to this video here.

1. BUN MAM SOUP: THE MEKONG IN A BOWL: 1min 54secs
Bún mắm is a robust Vietnamese soup from the Mekong Delta. It’s packed with contrasting flavours, textures and colours. Pungent, fishy, sweet, sour, dark, vibrant, silky and crunchy, this is a soup that challenges your taste buds. You’ll find bún mắm all over southern Vietnam, but the place featured in this video is especially good: Bún Mắm 444 Soup House, in Saigon. Read the accompanying article to this video here.
